Alloggiati Web: how and when to register your guests with the Italian police
Updated 12 October 2026
Applies in Italy: the rules in this article are for agriturismi, B&Bs, campsites and other holiday accommodation in Italy.
In short. Anyone hosting guests in Italy must send each guest's details to the police (Questura) through the State Police portal Alloggiati Web: within 24 hours of arrival, or within 6 hours if the stay is shorter than 24 hours. Failing to do so is a criminal offence: arrest of up to three months or a fine of up to €206.
Guest registrations are the most repetitive job of the week. A family arrives at eleven at night, the kitchen is closing, someone wants an extra blanket. And meanwhile the 24-hour clock is ticking. Here's how to stay ahead of it.
Who has to send guest registrations?
Every accommodation provider, whatever the size: hotels, B&Bs, agriturismi, campsites, holiday homes, short-term rentals. The obligation comes from article 109 of the Consolidated Public Security Act (TULPS).
Responsibility always stays with the operator, even if check-in is done by a member of staff or an agency. Even when software gets it wrong.
How do you get the credentials?
Credentials are issued by the Questura (police headquarters) of your province. You usually need:
- the application form;
- the SCIA or operating licence;
- an ID document of the owner or legal representative.
The procedure varies a little from province to province (in person, by certified email, with or without an appointment): check your Questura's website before you go.
What is the deadline?
| Length of stay | Deadline |
|---|---|
| More than 24 hours | within 24 hours of arrival |
| Less than 24 hours | within 6 hours of arrival |
The clock starts at actual arrival. There are no extensions for weekends or public holidays: Ferragosto Sunday counts like any Tuesday.
What data do you need?
- first name, surname, sex;
- date and place of birth, citizenship;
- type, number, place and date of issue of the ID document;
- arrival date and number of nights.
A valid document can be an ID card, passport or driving licence.
Which types of registration are there?
- Single guest: someone travelling alone.
- Head of family and family members: a family, registered under the head of family.
- Group leader and group members: an organised group, registered under the group leader.
For each type, the portal shows which fields are mandatory.
How are they sent?
There are two ways:
- By hand, on the alloggiatiweb.poliziadistato.it portal, one guest at a time.
- With a file or an automatic connection, in the format set by the State Police. This is what management software does.
After sending, download the receipt and keep it. Industry guides recommend keeping receipts for at least five years: if you are inspected, they are your proof.
The most common mistakes
- Putting it off until "tomorrow morning" and missing the 24 hours.
- Forgetting late arrivals or someone joining the group the next day.
- Copying document details by hand and getting a digit wrong.
- Not downloading the receipt.
Where does Fattore come in?
With Fattore your guests can check in online before they arrive, and the Alloggiati Web registrations are prepared from the data they've already entered: nothing to copy out. You still check the document when they arrive, as we explain in the article on self check-in. More in the modules.
Frequently asked questions
If a guest arrives at 11 pm, when is the deadline?
Within 24 hours of arrival, so by 11 pm the following day. If they stay less than 24 hours, within 6 hours.
Can a member of staff send them for me?
Yes, but the responsibility stays with you. Best to have a fixed routine and a tool that reminds you who is missing.
What do I risk if I miss one?
It's a criminal offence (article 17 TULPS): arrest of up to three months or a fine of up to €206.
